Big picture, Hale O'Herren saw the season as a success.
Jim Nohl, the coach of the Cathedral High School boys cross-country team, said he agreed with his senior/No. 1 runner that there were times the season could have been better.
The Irish would liked to have advanced a bit further in the postseason.
And O'Herren said he hoped to finish higher at the state meet.
But overall, O'Herren – who completed a memorable, four-year career in record-setting fashion – said the Irish improved as a program this season, and as a team, Nohl said Cathedral not only had a solid year, it also laid a foundation for the future.
And that, each said, can't be considered anything but successful.
